Недавно установлено, что обнаруженный в юго-восточной Миннесоте Celastrus orbiculatus распространяется на север. Цель данного исследования - определить, возможно ли ограничение инвазии Celastrus orbiculatus в Миннесоте морозоустойчивостью или высоким уровнем рН почвы. Исследование морозоустойчивости проводилось с использованием одно-, двух-, и четырехлетних деревьев, которые постепенно подвергались более низким температурам с помощью программируемой морозильной камеры. Для изучения рН почвы проводился гидропонный рассадный эксперимент с растворами рН 6,5, 7,2 и 7,9. Результаты наших исследований показали, что минимальные низкие зимние температуры от -28,9 до -31,7 °С и более высокие значения рН почвы приводят к сокращению выживаемости видов. Из этого следует, что Celastrus orbiculatus, вероятно, не будет распространятся в северной части штата Миннесота (климатическая зона 4а или ниже) или в западной части штата, где рН почвы составляет более 7,5.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>C and higher soil pH values will reduce the species' survival rate.
